Signpost is a multichannel video and music installation, in which human presence, landscape, and climate change move through and alongside one another in a poetic, yet urgent dialogue.
Combining film, live recordings of soprano voices and other artists, sound compositions, and testimonies of local inhabitants, the project creates an immersive, sensory experience. A spatial installation where image and sound converge into a shared emotional and intellectual space. It is a follow-up longterm project of the landscape opera Signal am Dachstein that is performed live in situ on the glacier Dachstein in Austria.
In 2026 the Wadden Sea will be filmed. This narrative in the north of The Netherlands will connect directly to previously filmed locations as the Dachstein glacier region — both places that, despite their geographic distance, share a deep vulnerability to the effects of climate change. The resulting dialogue between these landscapes transcends local narratives and becomes a global reflection on resilience and loss. Through the voices of people who live in and with their landscapes, heritage – and its threats – becomes a shared journey rather than a distant subject or memory.
By weaving these places together into one installation, I want to make visible the simple but powerful truth: we are all in it together.
By collaborating with renowned Dutch film artist Robin de Puy, we want to inspire people and take them on a journey. Multiple video screens and multiple sound sources will create a space, an environment where the audience can walk through and around, and stay in for a while and relate to the subject.
