commission by Stedelijk Museum, curator Bart Rutten

The architectural design of the elevator of Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam structurizes the spatial score of the musical installation Hush.

An array of speakers is positioned in the middle free space of the elevator. These speakers are multi-channel connected, each speaker can be addressed seperate from the other speakers. Especially for these speakers a spatial electro acoustic composition is written using the space and acoustics of the elevator.

Hush is an electro acoustic composition inspired by, and a modern reaction to, Purcell’s work ‘Hush, no more, be silent all’.

S&VR are commissioned to present work at festivals,
in concert halls and museums and in the landscape all over the world.
